About

Like the threads of a colorful tapestry, art has been woven through the fabric of Marisol Diaz’s existence, from her earliest years in Chile to her life in New York City today.  The daughter of a University professor and an engineer, she spent her childhood in the Chilean Capital of Santiago, where her family was part of a thriving artistic community.  Marisol vividly recalls her maternal grandfather settling down for his afternoon naps in a sun-flecked room surrounded by the artwork he had collected over a lifetime, a habit that allowed him to drift off to sleep while gazing upon the pieces he loved.

Marisol was 11 when she came to the United States with her parents and siblings.  After studying at Boston University, she embarked upon a successful and rewarding career in mortgage banking helping a diverse group of clients secure their homes. In 2008 Marisol began planning the transition she would eventually make to become an art dealer on a full time basis and use her creative experiences as a seasoned collector along with her financial background to establish MARISOL FINE ART.

Since her days as a college student in Boston, where she spent hours camped out on the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, to her global voyages to attend leading art Fairs and visit the studios of artist worldwide, Marisol has consistently pushed herself to see and learn more.  Though her interest lies primarily in Modern and Contemporary Art, the boundaries of the specific period or country of origin are less important to her than the enthusiasm she feels for the work itself.

During a visit to Chile as an adult, her grandfather allowed her to pick up one piece from his collection that would become her own.  When she selected a painting by Alberto Valenzuela Llanos, he asked her why.  “Because I like it”, she said, a sentiment he heartily endorsed.  First and foremost, he advised her, you must be passionate about the Art that you choose.  It is this credo that still drives her to this day.
